16 Oct Mobility and the Shaping of Identity: Fossato di Vico and its Migrants (1900‑1914)
The migration patterns of the inhabitants of the Eugubinogualdese Apennines (Umbria) cast some new light on the notions of mobility and stability in the study of Italian communities in the United States. Indeed, mobility itself seems to have contributed to defining the migrants’ identity, all the more so as their sense of belonging to the Eugubinogualdese area was reinforced through the successive stages of the migration process.
