About DMA Dialogues

DMA dialogue is an evolving platform to discuss all topics related to diaspora, migration and activism. The objective is to go beyond an academic echo chamber to provide the space in which academic research is discussed and shared by everyone, whether you are in the private sector, policymaker, charity or a concerned citizen.

The themes of the website grew from a PhD research project by Bashair Ahmed titled ‘Reasons for Giving Back?: Motivations for Engaging in Transnational Political Activism by Adult Children of Migrants from the Horn of Africa’. The study explored the drivers for engaging in activism by adult children of migrants from the Horn of Africa based in London (United Kingdom) and Washington, D.C. (United States). Further details about the findings will be shared on the website.

If you are interested in collaborating, or in conducting research on any of these topics, please do email at ba231@sussex.ac.uk
